Daniel Turner is an author and policy thinker dedicated to reimagining how nations can thrive together. His debut book, The Two Elements of Global Sustainability, proposes a bold dual-pillar framework for sustainable global trade. One that holds nations accountable while protecting human rights, environmental integrity, and the freedoms that define them.
Daniel Turner is a 1980 graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering. He worked for three years on various merchant cargo ships as a 3rd Assistant Engineer and transitioned into designing engineering and overseeing the construction wastewater treatment and water recycling systems for industrial clients around the world using advanced treatment technologies.
The foundational framework of Daniel Turner’s “The Two Elements of Global Sustainability” centers on a dual-pillar philosophy of human rights and environmental integrity, proposing that these priorities serve as the cornerstone for sustainable global trade and international relations. Under the Two Elements model, nations are evaluated and incentivized across national, local, and community levels based on their commitment to protecting human rights and environmental integrity utilizing an “Evolution Rating” index to tracking civil liberties, resource management, and environmental protection. Ultimately, the Two Elements’ Evolution Rating (ER) system allows countries to achieve sustainable economic prosperity without being undercut by predatory rogue nations. The Two Elements also addresses critical world challenges such as ocean clean-up, protection of our atmosphere and rainforest preservation while maintaining national sovereignty to foster each nation’s distinct cultural identity and without succumbing to totalitarian governmental control.
